History:

It was a story of seven 2nd year students of the UST-AMV College of Accountancy who had their trip to Nueva Ecija for Mikee’s 18th birthday celebration. It was almost the end of the hell prelims week but they still have to take their last exam on Computer Laboratory. Originally, they have to take it on their usual class hour every Saturday at 4-7pm, but their professor allowed them to take it earlier but we must not to tell it to others. Gapans Mikee, Esther, Dan, Nix, Yana together with their friends Gella and Nica, decided to take their exam early at 10 AM, while Gapans Ian and Charles had their exam on the usual hour to wait for Yana from her work.

Mikee, Est, Dan and Nix were the first to go to Nueva Ecija. At around 1PM, they settled themselves on the aircon bus. They took the shortcut on SCTEX to be able to make necessary preparation on the said birthday celebration. Fortunately, they arrived just the way they have to. They arrived about 3:30 PM.

It was as warm as the temperature in Nueva Ecija that the Manzon Family welcomed them on their house. They had their merienda right away and take note, every now and then!

Just when Est, Dan and Nix finished preparing for the party, Ian sent a message telling them that they have just set off from Manila at around 8PM. Whatever happens, the show must go on. Before the party started, Est, Dan and Nix were able to take their dinner. According to observation, the “jelly-flan” has the highest demand for them.

The party went on, Dan and Nix were able to dance with Mikee being two of her 18 roses. Time came for the 18 memories, Est and Yana are included in the list, but Yana, with Ian and Charles was still on their way to the party. So Mikee and the emcee decided to wait for them, and as they wait, they decided to have an ambush interview. Unexpectedly, Dan, Nix and Est were three of the victims of the interview. They were requested to stand up and be applauded by the other visitors. One by one, they told their wishes to Mikee, and to summarize all of them, the wishes were all about “wag madedebar!”.

Few minutes more, at around 11:30PM, Ian, Charles and Yana already arrived from their trip. Without even changing their clothes, they faced the crowd and once again been applauded. They told their wishes to Mikee, and they were able to eat after their exhausting trip from Manila.

It was on this time when Ian started to tell their experience on coming to Nueva Ecija, without even knowing where they will go. They told them every detail on how they were able to reach the place.

While the group was eating, the issue arises on how they managed to get into the party as if they know where to go. At first, Ian told them that the first bus they took was just up to GAPAN (a town before San Leonardo). It will be a disaster because they will have to take another ride on the jeep to be able to reach San Leonardo. On the stop-over, a friend on their side helped them out to transfer to another bus for them not to take another jeep again. And so they reached the place, the Mallorca Elementary School. These statements answered the questions why they have taken so long time. Gapan was mentioned not once nor twice but more than a hundred times during the night. The dance floor ignited and the music started to boost, until the music changed into a recorded live-concert of Sandwich in a place in Gapan that keeps on telling “are you ready mga Gapan Rockerz?!”. And that’s how Ian together with Nix, Dan, Charles, Est, and Yana started to call themselves as the “Gapan Rockerz”.

After their 3-hour sleep until morning, the newly-founded group even improved. The tattoo in Yana’s right leg has been the apple of the eye! Originally it looks like a flower with four stems that has leaves on its ends, but when you look at it from far away, you can visualize it as a little crab! It became the Official logo of the group. This has been reason why Yana became the founder and the leader of the Gapan Rockerz!

Ian then formed a handshake sign of the said group. It is done by putting your thumb and hintuturo together that forms like a circle. Then the last three fingers are stretched outward from the palm. Then you connect the formed hand to another member and when you close your fist together, the thumb and the hintuturo will stretch outward that will form a letter “L”. As you see it, it will look like an opened crab!

And that’s how the Gapan Rockerz was founded…
